    STRESS, YOUR HEALTH AND HEALING

High stress is affecting our health and  healing abilities. It affects our entire life both psychologically and physically. Researchers  compared a group of women who were under extreme stress and women who were not. They found the woman with the stress healed in an average of 49 days while the women with low stress healed 10 days sooner.
Blood tests showed high stress makes the body produce less of the powerful hormone like substance called “interleukin-1 beta” a natural immune system chemical. Relaxation techniques, stress management, and mental exercises have been found to boost the production of interleukin-1 beta, which in turn increases the body’s’ defense against disease.
Previous studies have shown that stress can increase a persons vulnerability to infection and disease.  Researchers find that people who undergo surgery may heal more slowly if they are under stress.
Harvard scientist have found that if you get angry, it increases your risk of a heart attack threefold. There are a cascade of physiological responses. Blood tends to clot. Your blood pressure goes up. Your heart rate skyrockets and the stress hormone, cortisol, levels are elevated. These reactions all affect our health in a NEGATIVE way. High levels of cortisol has been found to harm organs and tissues in our body, especially if its a constant daily problem. Our bodies were not meant to be in a constant state of fight or flight.
You have to be proactive in your life with stress management techniques on a daily basis, the way you would with exercise so you can handle whenever stress comes along at  a calmer level to prevent the physical issues that stress causes. Do a deep breathing exercise every day or take a walk, journal or take in a funny movie. It will help keep things in perspective. Hypnosis and meditation are both a excellent way to calm the mind and body.
If your not proactive , when stress does come along it will eventually destroy your mind, body and spirit.
